While traveling in complete comfort, three women — in Italy, Indonesia, and the Savoy region — are confronted with the fragility of their own existence. This terrifying realization — that life hangs by a thread — is, sadly, just as true for a young medical student in Paris. Across centuries, cultures, and generations, the vulnerability of our lives leaves room for only one hope: the willingness to take the risk of fighting to change the world! But what is the price of such an endeavor?

In her third contemporary novel, Mélodie Marine explores the uncertainty of our lives, employing poignant contrasts between the past and the present. The author draws upon historical literary excerpts — such as the writings of Carlo Levi — as well as sociological studies. While Mélodie Marine channels the full power of her prose to highlight the beauty of this world, she also, for the first time, acknowledges its limitations. Despite the darkness found in certain chapters of history, she writes with optimism, pointing toward solutions within our reach and the positive changes that are possible.

  • About the author:

Mélodie Marine is the author of three novels, having previously written professional texts. Holding advanced academic degrees and possessing professional experience across various fields, she continues her exploration of life by sharing her modest analyses of the world through her writing. Mélodie has traveled to many countries, where she enjoys immersing herself in local life; she has also lived abroad for several years.

Mélodie Marine has published "L’Amour, sinon rien !", "Le cendrier.

In these three works, the protagonists—men and women living in contemporary society—offer a reflection of our own lives. The author makes it a point to highlight beauty through themes such as travel, art, culture, music, and humor.
